Movie Monomyth Assignment and Rubric
Details
1. Sign up for a movie.
2. Fill out a Hero’s Journey sheet/notes to accompany your project.
3. Create a presentation to show how the Hero’s Journey plays out in your movie. Your project must include pictures and can be done in any way that fits your style. Clearly indicate on your project the steps in the hero’s journey.
4. Examples:
a. Poster board
b. Create a video
c. Draw a comic strip or “graphic novel” or picture book
d. Create a powerpoint/SLIDEs - should include pictures and words
e. Create a Prezi or Adobe Spark
f. Anything else you can think of (just run it by me first).
5. For the Road of Trials stage - you must identify at least three trials the hero faces.
6. You should finish watching your movie by March 14.
7. Your presentation is due March 20.
You will be graded on these items:
· Has filled out the Hero’s Journey Movie Notes
· Has identified at least 8 steps in the hero’s journey 1-4 5-7 8-10 11-12
· Prepared to share the project by March 20 (next class) (later)
· Has included effective images
· Has included enough just words to clearly show how each given step is shown in the movie
· If presented orally, volume and enunciation are effective (for some projects, this won’t count)
· Shows that the student understands the pattern of the hero’s journey
· Shows that the student put in time and effort (didn’t slap it together at the last minute)
· There is something about this presentation that deserves extra points
