Announcements and Reminders  for Tuesday, April 16, 2019:

All:  Do not forget that the "Hero's Journey Movie Notes" needs to be turned in with your Movie Monolyth (Hero's Journey) project.  If you haven't completed your project yet, when you do, turn in the notes when you present.  If you have already presented or turned in your project,  turn in the notes as soon as you can.  The notes are on green paper and there are more copies at the back of the room, or you can print your own.

For the Yggdrasil Project:
1. Remember to create your own sketch first -- with all the elements.
       Use the illustrations on Canvas.
2.  Write or draw and label your project, meeting all of the requirements on the rubric.
3.  Finish it by April 18 -- next Thursday.

Your composition books will be checked today for your translations and your notes on Norse gods and creatures.  (many with with the icons)

A bit more on
Odin
Poetry--stole some the mead of poetry from a giant, transformed into an eagle, flew away, spat mead into pot for the deities to drink.  Also farted some out.

Meddler.  If you’re in a Norse myth or Viking story and a mysterious old man turns up out of nowhere and he has one eye and he’s wearing a hood, it’s probably Odin.
Draupnir was a ring that could multiply itself
and Gungnir, Odin's spear, is described as being so well-balanced that it could strike any target, no matter the skill or strength of the one who throws it. It is said to be made with wood from the World Tree and that its point was engraved with magical runes.
Both Odin's ring and his spear were made by the dwarves, and we will get more that story later.

Thor and his goats --

.  Loki tricked a boy into sucking the marrow from one of the bones one night.  Goat had limp after that and boy became Thor’s shieldbearer from then on as recompense.

Loki

As punishment for Balder's death, he is bound by the gods underground.  They tie him up in the intestines of his own dead son, and a poisonous serpent drips venom into his face.  Sif begs for permission to stay with him.  She holds a bowl to catch the poison but has to leave to empty it.  He escapes eventually and gathers an army of giants and monsters to fight against the gods.
The world burns and almost everyone dies.

Work on the Yggdrasil project.
